What happens when the cameras are gone?

galveston.jpg
Galveston, Tex., just days following Hurricane Ike.

The disaster doesn't go away once attention turns elsewhere.  In fact, for many the struggle to recover from a disaster can take months, even years. That's why CWS ardently promotes the long-term recovery effort in communities gripped by disaster.

CWS disaster response partners, such as denominational and secular relief agencies, bring together faith-based and secular groups to work together following a disaster. Community long-term recovery groups work to identify cases of need following a disaster, and help each client recover.

Emergency Response Specialists represent CWS in the field, by providing training to long-term recovery groups, and project development support.

CWS long-term recovery training can focus on:
  • Disaster preparedness
  • Long-term recovery administration
  • Case management
  • Post-disaster pastoral care
  •  ...and more!
Our initial, most basic disaster recovery training is the one-day seminar, Recovery Tools & Training. Read more...

CWS also supports long-term recovery groups with emergency support grants and project development assistance. Read more...
