From Altoona to Zimbabwe, you help CWS respond!
The backbone of CWS emergency responses
is the material resource program. U.S. churches and community groups assemble CWS Hygiene Kits, CWS Baby Kits and CWS Emergency
Cleanup Buckets. These resources provide help most immediately once disaster strikes. Learn how you can become involved
here.
Domestic
emergency responses
More than six decades
of CWS experience proves those with the least means have the hardest time recovering following disasters. CWS disaster
response activities in the U.S. focus on vulnerable individuals and families through:
A multi-faceted training and education program in disaster ministry and the long-term recovery process
Assisting local groups engaged in developing projects to address needs of the most vulnerable
CWS deploys its Emergency Response Specialists
to provide best practices and other training for long-term recovery groups in every state and U.S. territory and can provide
grants to support their work. These groups bring together community and
government resources to ensure everyone has a chance to recover.
International responses
The
CWS philosophy of disaster recovery is one that empowers local communities to recover from disaster. That's why CWS supports
local partners across the globe as part of the Action by Churches Together network. In some regions, CWS foreign offices provide immediate assessment and assistance with response to disaster.
